We are pleased to announce that Sarah Lockhart, MSW, LICSW, has joined our team as our Mental Health Director. Sarah previously served as the Family Services Director at Cornerhouse and oversaw their advocacy, case management and psychotherapy programs. She has over a decade of experience providing individual, family, and group psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and families affected by trauma.
Her work at NYFS includes overseeing our Clinic-Based, School-Based and Day Treatment Mental Health programs. “I’m passionate about increasing equity and access to quality trauma and culturally responsive mental health services for youth and families within our community,” Sara says. “This position provides the opportunity to lead the NYFS’ mental health team in expanding our services to increase access to quality mental health treatment and better meet the unique needs of each client who walks through our doors.”
Since her start in March, she has overseen the expansion of mental health care options at the clinic including creation of the Child Centered Play Therapy program which will serve children as young as age four.
“The best part of my job is observing moments of healing, growth, and change happening for our clients,” Sarah says. “The other best part of my job is working with such a fun, compassionate, and talented team here at NYFS.”
