Effective September 6, 2024, Amelia Swisher Maijala will be resigning her position as Development and Communications Manager at NYFS after 25 dedicated years of service. On behalf of the NYFS leadership team and staff, we are saddened by Amelia’s departure, but overjoyed with the work she has accomplished in her tenure at NYFS. Amelia has been crucial to NYFS’s success and has helped to steward the organization over many different iterations, watching it grow, meet the needs of our community, and live its vibrant mission.
Amelia is an exemplar of what it means to be a mission-driven nonprofit champion – helping to move our mission inside and outside of our walls. Though capturing her accomplishments in a list is a challenging task for a 25-year tenure, some of her core accomplishments are listed below:

- Helping to launch the Restoring Power Program to support victim-survivors of domestic and sexual violence by communicating its value to our stakeholders.

There is no shortage of ways in which Amelia will be missed. We will celebrate her accomplishments and will continue to honor her investment in NYFS into our future. We thank Amelia for all she has done for NYFS and wish her the very best on her next adventure!
