Dear Supporters,
As we come to the end of 2024, it is inspiring to look back and reflect on all that NYFS has accomplished. I am most excited about the powerful and life-changing work that our staff do every day with individuals and families, primarily youth who live in our communities. NYFS is dedicated to ensuring access to care for all who need it. We serve many young people who would not be receiving care if it weren’t for our low sliding fee scale paired with the developmentally-targeted and effective services that NYFS offers. Between the challenges inherent in normal development, the pressures of technology and social media, coming through a pandemic, and for some – chronic stress and trauma – we see many youth and families in acute need of care. NYFS is proud to be able to offer immediate access to services with no-to-low wait times.
As we look toward innovating for our communities in 2025, we are thinking a lot about what we are hearing from our communities. Compounding stress is affecting whole families, and with the recent U.S. Surgeon General’s Advisory on the Mental Health & Well-Being of Parents 2024 report, entitled “Parents Under Pressure,” we see the effects on parents and caregivers specifically. NYFS is attuned to this need and is developing new services focused on supporting parents, so they are well equipped to support their youth’s development and mental health. A big part of this, of course, is making sure that parents have the resources and tools they need to thrive. As a parent myself, I know how important strong support systems are to raising children.
I hope you all have an opportunity to rest, reflect, and rejuvenate as you enter into 2025! Thank you for your continued support and investment in our mission!
