The NYFS Psychological Evaluations program is dedicated to creating a safe, supportive environment that honors the unique experiences and perspectives of each family. Psychological evaluations provide a comprehensive understanding of a child’s strengths and needs by considering their behavior, emotions, and cognitive abilities. We deeply value the expertise of parents and caregivers and see our role as enhancing their insights with additional tools and professional guidance.
Beyond offering a deeper understanding of a child’s brain, our evaluations help build a shared language to communicate their needs effectively with teachers, doctors, and other key providers. This collaborative approach ensures that together, NYFS and caregivers can identify the supports and services that will best benefit the child.
Our team takes a trauma-informed approach, focusing on diagnostic clarity in areas such as autism, ADHD, trauma, mood disorders, anxiety, and behavioral challenges. We also provide recommendations to guide families toward meaningful, ongoing support.
At NYFS, we see an evaluation as one step on a family’s journey. We are committed to connecting families with additional resources, whether through our own programs or within the broader community.
