Dear NYFS Supporters,
This year marks our 50th anniversary, offering an opportunity for both gratitude and celebration. We couldn’t be prouder of all we have accomplished in our 50 years, in partnership with our community. This year has also arrived with a series of unexpected challenges. Just as we’ve done for decades before, we are meeting these rising challenges head-on, staying true to our founding roots of serving those who would otherwise be unable to access care. We remain a trusted safety net for our friends and neighbors.
Being that safety net means we are seeing the weight of these barriers every day in our clients, staff, and communities. We see clients whose basic needs have skyrocketed alongside the acuity of their mental health symptoms. We are seeing more families where resources like housing and rental assistance, food security, transportation, and employment are present with more serious, more challenging symptoms.
It is no small task, but seeing our community pull together to help meet these needs is exactly what has kept us going for 50 years – it is the reason why NYFS is here. We are here because we are adept at providing wrap around care – seeing all of an individual and family’s needs as interrelated and critical for their long-term wellbeing. We are here because community members like you advocate for our mission and clients. As our communities start the long road of recovery and healing, NYFS will continue to offer services which meet our clients’ unique, individual needs. We will work to ensure that our communities are stronger and safer because everyone can have access to the care they need.
This year, I am proud to celebrate 50 years of heart, dedication, and innovation from our staff and community. We have navigated seasons of peace and seasons of challenge together, and I know we will do it again. As we work through these barriers, I am confident our next chapter will be our brightest yet, filled with the connection and spirit of the community we serve.
